. (This word and its cognates (e.g. ἑκατηβελέτης), although connected by Greek writers with ἑκάς, may have originally contained the stem ἑκṇτ-(cf. ἑκών) 'at will'; for the formation of ϝεκα (τ) -ϝεργός, cf. γυναι (κ) -μανής.)
